Abstract

1,253,649. Fluidized-bed dryer. WERNER & PFLEIDERER. 19 Aug., 1970 [17 Sept., 1969], No. 39970/70. Heading F4G. A continuously-operable fluidized-bed drier comprises a vessel adapted to contain a fluidized bed of material and means for transporting the material from inlet to outlet. As shown, the transport means comprise two augers 1 running on shafts 2 and driven by motor end transmission 10 at infinitely variable speed. The augers mesh as closely as possible, and the bed covers approximately only the lower half of the top auger. The vessel is charged via the bucket reel lock 5 and air is impelled into the container through heater 7, distributer section 8 and a porous plate 9, to produce a fluidized bed. Discharge is controlled by bucket reel lock 6. A cyclone separator 12 removes fine particles of material from the air 11 above the bed and expels the air and dust in the directions E and F respectively.
