914,086. Blowing lances. HUTTENWERK SALZGITTER A.G. July 20, 1961 [July 20, 1960; Nov. 21, 1960], No. 26339/61. Classes 51 (1) and 51 (2). A lance for blowing oxygen and powdered material on or into a metal melt comprises a water-jacket 9, 10 surrounding an oxygen pipe 4 terminating in a convergent-divergent nozzle 3, and a powder tube 1 coaxial with the oxygen pipe 4 and extending into the nozzle 3, and the lance is slidable on a down pipe 8 extending into the central powder tube 1 from a rotating pocketed drum 12 below a powder container 13. Oxyten may be supplied from a fixed supply pipe 15 through a flexible tube, or the oxygen supply pipe may have an exten. sion terminating in a part 15a parallel to the down pipe 8 and co-operating with an upwardlydirected pipe 19.
