Abstract

806,868. Injectors. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Sept. 16, 1957 [Sept. 20, 1956], No. 29066/57. Class 71. [Also in Group XXII]. Apparatus for entraining a powder in a gas stream comprises a chamber 18a, charged with powder under gravity from a gas-tight hopper through connection 17, having a diffusion throat 24 leading out of the chamber and a nozzle or jet 29, spaced from the throat end coaxial with it, through which the gas is directed into the throat. A connection 22 rearwardly of the nozzle 29 extends by conduit 30 to the hopper to equalise the pressure in the chamber 18a and hopper. Gas directed by jet 29 into the throat 24 entrains the powder from the chamber 18a the mixture flowing through the outlet 25. The quantity of powder entrained may be varied by axial adjustment of the nozzle 29.
