Abstract

1,002,626. Grinding cement ; grinding coal. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. March 10, 1964 [March 12, 1963], No. 10100/64. Heading B2A [Also in Division G3] A combined drying and milling plant for coal, cement and cement clinker comprises a mill 1, a feeder 2 for charging the stock into the mill from a conveyer belt 3, upon which it has been moistened by a device 4. The milled product emerges from an opening 7. Hot gas for drying the material in the mill is fed through an opening 5 and leaves through an opening 8 connected by a flue 12 to an electrostatic precipitator 13, from which it is removed to a stack 18 by a suction fan 17. The temperature and dew-point of the gas leaving the precipitator are measured at points 14, 15 respectively, and their difference determined in a regulator 19. Relays 21, 22 are actuated in dependence on the temperature difference to position a valve 10, by a servomotor 9, to vary the flow to nozzles 6 spraying water into the mill. It is stated that a gate valve 26 in the gas duct 12 can be controlled by a regulator 25 in dependence on the temperature difference. To increase atomization, air is injected into the water supply to the sprayers 6 through branch pipes 11.
