Abstract

736,207. Pneumatic conveyers. SPILLERS, Ltd. Sept. 24, 1953 [July 12, 1952], No. 17642/52. Class 78 (1). In pneumatic conveyers, particularly those actuated by low-pressure air, material is fed from a hopper 2, Fig. 1, by a pipe 1 which extends nearly to the bottom of the conveying conduit 3. The material forms a heap 4 and if it is not removed by the air stream, it seals the outlet from the pipe and the supply of material is stopped. In a modification the pipe 5, Fig. 3, which is of square cross-section, extends to the bottom of the conduit and has a discharge opening 6 in its side facing downstream. In a further modification the upstream side 9, Fig. 5, of the pipe is streamlined.
