Abstract
962,003. Pneumatic conveyers. CARMICHAEL & SONS (WORCESTER) Ltd. June 18, 1962 [June 24, 1961], No. 22924/61. Heading B8A. In a hopper 10, Fig. 1, for granulated &c. material adapted for feeding to a pneumatic conveyer line 107 the air supply through a pipeline 12 is directed into a mixing chamber 103 containing an adjustable flap valve 17 which deflects the air away from the hopper and induces a suction effect to promote the flow of material from the hopper. The valve 17 is set by movement of an arm 172 movable over an arcuate indicating scale 191. Additional loosening air is supplied to the hopper 10 through pipes 13 tapped from the line 12, the relative rates of air flow being adjusted by valves 15, 16. The conveyed material passes through a second mixing chamber 106 and a non-return valve 108.
