Abstract

914,276. Pneumatic conveyers. YOKES Ltd. Aug. 8, 1961 [Aug. 24, 1960], No. 29306/60. Class 78 (1). In a pneumatic conveying system for delivering tobacco from a supply table 2, Fig. 1, to a number of dischargers 10-13 for tobacco, utilizing machines in which air is drawn by suction through selected pipes 4-7, non-return valves 14-17, Fig. 2, are arranged in the inlet manifold 3 to prevent air and tobacco being drawn back in the return direction due to suction in one of the pipes. The air is drawn through a single pipe 8 by a suction fan 9 and passes through the selected pipes 4-7 according to the machine demand under the control of selectively operated valves 18-21 regulated by automatic timer circuits. The non-return valves 14-17 are normally urged to the closed position by gravity or spring means and are opened by suction.
