769,179. Pneumatic conveyers. DUSTERLOH FABRIK FUR BERGWERKSBEDARF GES., G. May 18, 1955 [May 22, 1954], No. 14346/55. Class 78 (1). In apparatus for stowing gobbing material in goafs by compressed air, the supply of air is varied automatically in accordance with the supply of the material. Material from the hopper 6 passes over a shoot 8, conveyer 9 and shoot 10, each of which is pivoted, to the feed hopper 11 of the gobbing machine 1. One of the parts 8, 9 or 10 is connected by a linkage to a slide-valve in the air inlet 3 so that as the part rises upon reduction of the supply of material, the supply of air is reduced. The air enters an annular chamber and passes into the conduit 2 through a gap between the conduit and the nozzle 5. The material is projected by a fastrunning endless conveyer belt through the nozzle 5 into the conduit. In a modification, Fig. 2, in which material falls on to a rotary disc 23 engaged by an endless belt 22, the amount of material bearing on the conveyer determines the position of the tensioning roller 21 and since this roller is connected by a linkage 29 to a control in the air supply pipe, the quantity of air supplied. The conveyer is driven from a roller 28 by a belt 27. In another modification the movement of a roller, which bears on the belt 22 at the point where the material is projected, is used to control the air supply. An oil or air damping device may be provided to delay the alteration in the air supply.
