Abstract

760,548. Pneumatic conveyers. SIMON, Ltd., H. Sept. 26, 1955 [Oct. 8, 1954], No. 29032/54. Class 78 (1). The feeding hopper a, Fig. 3, of a conveyer g is connected to a supply pipe b by a flexible tube d which can be collapsed to stop the supply by moving members e towards each other. A by-pass with a valve k thereon may be provided to vary the quantity of air passing the outlet f of the hopper. The hopper may have a porous insert o through which air is passed to fluidise the material. Two containers a, a<1>, Fig. 4, are placed side-by-side and operated alternately. A valve w<1>, Fig. 6, similar to the valve d may be provided at the hopper outlet and a pair of hoppers a, a<1> may discharge alternately. In a modification, the valves w<1> may be inserted in the conveying line between the hopper outlets and the junction 8.
