The feed tank of a utilization device, such as an extruder or spraying machine, is connected to a suction pipe line 1 and to a storage hopper 11 for granular plastics material, whereby the material is transferred to the feed tank through a pipe line 8 when the level of material in the tank is below the outlet 7 of the pipe line. A suction head 10 is connected to the pipe line 8 by a flexible tube 9 and is adapted to be inserted in a desired one of several hoppers 11, Fig. 2 (not shown). A plurality of feed tanks may be connected to a common suction pipe line 1.
