Abstract

1360424 Pneumatic conveyers INDUSTRIAL PNEUMATIC SYSTEMS Inc 3 Sept 1971 41251/71 Heading B8A [Also in Divisions B2 and F2] Apparatus for controlling the pneumatic conveyance of fluidized material, e.g. for rock dusting, comprises a container 10 connected to a source of pressurized air 11 to fluidize the material and having an outlet 18 connected to a conduit 12 having a material flow control valve 60, and an air supply conduit 51 connected between the top of the container above the material and the conduit 12 downstream of the valve 60 and having an air flow control valve 50. The valves 50, 60 are each connected to a respective diaphragm 57, 67 with one side connection, via a pipe 80, to a source of air at constant pressure and the other side connected, via a pipe 90, to the conduit 12 downstream of the conduit 51 whereby to automatically control the pressure in the conduit 12. In operation, an increase of pressure in the conduit 12 acts to increase the flow of air through the valve 50 and decrease the flow of material through the valve 60 and vice versa. The conduit 12 is discharged through a valve 30 comprising a flexible tubular member (32), Fig. 3 (not shown); held between a stationary member (35) and a movable slide (36) which act to control the member (32) and thereby control the flow of material.
