Abstract

847,731. Blending fluidized flour. BAKER PERKINS Ltd. May 26, 1959 [June 16, 1958], No. 19236/58. Class 86 In a continuous process and apparatus for blending grades of flour in predetermined proportions, flour is supplied by pneumatic supply lines 9 to silos 1-8 having bases formed as fluidizing chambers and discharging by means of variable speed rotary pocket pumps 15, see Fig. 2 (not shown). Compressed air for fluidizing is supplied by blowers 12 through pipes 13; each silo has a spring loaded resistance valve 14, Fig. 3 (not shown) to prevent pressure drop in the line when one silo is nearly empty. The flour supplied by the pocket pumps is entrained and blended in the conduits 16 by a high speed current of air supplied by blowers 17. Further blending of supplies from two or more conduits may take place in a cyclone mixer 18.
