Abstract
934,073. Pneumatic conveyers. YORKSHIRE ENGINEERING & WELDING CO. (BRADFORD) Ltd. April 26, 1962 [April 26, 1961], No. 15024/61. Class 78 (1). In a rotary valve for feeding granular &c. material the rotor is divided axially into separate compartments by walls 14, Fig. 1, so that the material is fed in separate streams to a series of outlets 21. The material inlet 3 may be similarly divided by walls 4 so that material from separate sources may be fed to the valve. The rotor comprises star-shaped end plates 12, Fig. 2, to which curved plates 13 are welded to form the pockets. The rotor shaft 10 extends through seals 26 in the casing 1 and through bearings 7 extended axially by arms 6 on end plates 5 so that the shaft 10 is supported at four spaced-apart points. Material is ejected from the pockets by compressed air &c. fed through passages 19 from a common supply line 20. The material is discharged through passages 21 to sight tubes 23 and hose connections 25. Separate rotary valves may be interconnected for rotation at the same or different speeds according to requirements for mixing different materials which may be fed at different rates in the separate streams.
