[Also in Group XII] Apparatus for compounding sinter feed and delivering it as a relatively homogeneous and deep bed on to sinter pans 12 comprises a number of systems successively delivering mixed material on to the pans, Fig. 5, each system including storage bins B, B<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>2</SP> delivering into a mixer D by a belt conveyer C incorporating a known weighing device J, an additional bin I with a conveyer H for fine materials, and a belt conveyer E leading to a distributing and feeding device F above the sinter pans. The device F comprises a pivotally mounted belt conveyer 30 oscillated over the pans 12 by opposed pneumatic cylinders 48, Fig. 4, at the same time as an arcuate distributer 60 is oscillated about a shaft 62 by a crank 64 driven from a cylinder 68. Resilient side strips prevent material being flung laterally off,the belt 30 and limit switches control its oscillations. The belt conveyer E terminates substantially above the pivot of the belt 30.
