Abstract
921,899. Gas fuelled cigarette lighters. COLIBRI LIGHTERS Ltd. April 11, 1961 [May 18, 1960], No. 17572/60. Addition to 849,988. Class 75 (3). A modification of the filling arrangement for gas burning cigarette lighters of the parent Specification wherein a refill container has a neck screw threaded for coupling to a socket on the lighter reservoir, both coupling members containing a spring-loaded valve and there being provided a venting passage which allows gas to escape from the reservoir as the neck is screwed into and unscrewed from the socket, comprises forming the venting passage by flattening or rounding the crest of the thread 22 in the socket 3 or of the thread 10 on the neck 9 to provide a helical passage. Closure of the passage when the neck 9 is screwed fully into the socket 3 is effected by a rubber seal 16 which engages the end surface 15 of the neck or by providing a number of closely fitting threads on the neck 9 and the socket 3 which engage before the neck 9 is screwed home sufficiently far to open the valve therein.
