Abstract

920,184. Inverting; automatic voltage control. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Aug. 16, 1961 [Oct. 21, 1960], No. 36221/60. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). An inverter utilizing controllable semiconductor rectifiers includes an output transformer having a feed-back winding supplying a rectifying circuit which provides a controllable direct voltage which is added to the direct voltage input supply to the inverter. As shown, the rectifier 5 utilizes further controlled semi-conductor rectifiers which are fired in dependence on signals at a, b, c, derived from a circuit 7 sensing the output voltage so that automatic regulation is achieved. Alternatively manual control of rectifier 5 may be effected, and control may be achieved by a transductor or variable transformer instead of a rectifier. The inverter rectifiers are controlled by sigoals at d, e, f, g from a pulse generator 8.
