Abstract

1,025,553. Automatic speed control. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Feb. 14, 1963 [Feb. 20,1962], No. 6042/63. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] A load 8 is connected to a D.C. source 3 through inverter 1 and rectifier 2, both of the full-wave type, silicon controlled semi-conductor devices being used for one of the two oppositely poled rectifiers in each phase of the inverter. The return of energy to the source 3 through the rectifier 2 is controlled by a silicon controlled rectifier 6 associated with choke 5 and diodes 7 which block current-flow in an undesirable direction. The load consumption is determined by controlling the onoff periods of the device 6. A three-phase motor is connected to inverter group 1 and rectifier group 2, unit 10 controlling the on-off periods of group 1 and thereby the frequency of the current supplied to the motor. The unit 10 also controls pulsing circuit 4 between the rectifier 2 and source 3. A reference signal applied to unit 10 is compared with a speed-responsive signal from the motor to produce an error signal from which the control of inverter 1 and pulser 4 are derived. The source 3 may be an accumulator, battery of thermo-elements or of fuel elements. A buffer battery may be inserted in the D.C. circuit, and a buffer capacitor in the A.C. circuit.
