1,116,375. Control of A.C. motors. TOYO DENKI SEIZO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. 25 June, 1965 [2 July, 1964; 5 March, 1965], No. 27165/65. Heading H2J. [Also in Division G3] An induction motor has silicon controlled rectifiers 3-3b replacing the star-point of primary or secondary windings 1-1b, the speed of the motor being controlled by adjusting the firing-angle of the rectifiers. One of the rectifiers is fired separately to provide directcurrent braking. For power operation of the motor, the outputs of saw-tooth generators 5-5b are superimposed upon a reference voltage from source 7 which is opposed by the output of tachometer generator 10. The resultant voltages are applied to phase-control circuits 9-9b providing the gating signals for the rectifiers. During motoring operation, the gating signals are retarded if the motor speed increases. A further saw-tooth generator 15 and phase-control circuit 18 are associated with the rectifier 3 for stable speed operation when the motor is over-driven by the load. The tachometer generator may be replaced by a device responsive to the torque or output power of the motor.
