Abstract

935,482. Automatic voltage control; alternators. MULLARD Ltd. Aug. 24, 1961 [Aug. 29, 1960], No. 29719/60. Classes 35 and 38 (4). In a circuit arrangement for providing the excitation current for the field winding of an alternator the excitation current is compounded from a rectified current proportional to the output current of the alternator and a rectified current dependent on the output voltage of the alternator, this latter current being obtained from a variable voltage source controlled by a comparator which compares the alternator output voltage with a reference source. As shown in the Figure, the excitation current Iv+ Ic flowing in the field winding 5 is compounded from a rectified current Ic proportional to the load current flowing in the output lines 2, 3, 4 of the alternator 1 and obtained from a 3-phase rectifier bridge 10 fed from a 3-phase current transformer 6, 7, 8, and a rectified current Iv obtained from a variable voltage source 11 controlled by the error output of a comparator 12 which compares the alternator output voltage derived via lines 13, 14, 15 with a reference source. The variable voltage source 11 may be supplied over lines 16, 17, 18 from output lines 2, 3, 4. Specification 650,801 is referred to.
