Abstract
918,529. Circular loom shuttles; stop motions. DAUTRICOURT, J. Feb. 13, 1959 [Feb. 13, 1958], No. 34679/62. Divided out of 918,528. Class 142 (2). A circular loom shuttle comprises a cop chamber 1 having a restricted outlet eye 3 acting as a slub catcher. The weft runs in contact with an anvil 4, roller 5 on a lever 6, and the end of a lever 10, then round pulleys 14, 15 to the fabric. If a slub is caught in the eye 3, the increase in the tension of the weft turns the lever 6 about its pivot 8 against the action of a spring 7 and centrifugal force acting on the roller 5, causing a blade 9 to cut the weft against the anvil 4. The resulting slackness in the weft allows the lever 10 to turn about its pivot 11 against the action of centrifugal force on a counterweight 12; an electrical contact on the lever closes a circuit through a brush 2 to stop the loom, firm pressure being maintained on the contact by a magnet 13. The length of weft round the rollers 14, 15 is sufficient to continue normal weaving whilst the loom is coming to rest. A centrifugal switch may be incorporated in one of the rollers 14, 15 to stop the loom if the weft breaks between the lever 10 and the fabric.
