Abstract

1310122 Alarms and stop-motions in spinning &c. machines LA TELEMECANIQUE ELECTRIQUE 20 April 1970 [29 April 1969] 18742/70 Headings DID and D1F [Also in Division H1] In a device for detecting breakage of a running thread or fine wire in a spinning machine, loom or wire coiling machine, when the thread &c. 3 (normally pressing on a roller 9) breaks, the loss of tension therein between guides 4 permits pivotal movement of a permanent magnet 7 (assisted or ensured by the attracion of an adjustable pole-piece 27) which then attracts one end of a mild steel vane or latch 10 which is thus pivoted so as to disengage the other end from a nose 17a of a blade 16 which is then moved by a spring 19 to close the electrical contacts 14 and 18 and complete, through connectors 15, actuating circuit(s) for warning and/or thread-cutting apparatus (not shown). The device is reset by manual operation of a latch 22, which returns sensor 8, and therefore magnet 7 (to the position shown in full lines) until tension in the thread 3 is restored, and downward movement of a spring-loaded plunger 20 which swings latch 10 into the position shown whereat the electrical contacts are separated.
