Abstract
914,984. Spinning and twisting machines. HEBERLEIN & CO. A.G. Oct. 27, 1961 [Nov. 10, 1960], No. 38598/61. Addition to 862,319. Class 120 (2). In apparatus for use in a false-twisting device as claimed in the parent Specification, the magnetic means comprises a horse shoe magnet having pole shoes which terminate in surfaces which are parallel to one another and are spaced apart by a distance corresponding to the sum of the maximum diameter of the twist-tube to be used and the air gaps between the respective surfaces and sides of the tube. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, twist tubes 4 and 4<SP>1</SP> are frictionally rotated by, and in the jaws between, sleeves 50, 50<SP>1</SP>, and 51, 51<SP>1</SP> on driven discs 3, 3<SP>1</SP> and freely rotatable discs 6, 6<SP>1</SP> which, with spacing bushes 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, constitute rollers (3 and 6). Flat pole shoes 16, 16<SP>1</SP> on arms of a magnet 15 extend into the space between bushes and discs, and the parallel faces 55, 55<SP>1</SP> of portions 16a, 16a<SP>1</SP> extend over the distance between the longitudinal axes of the tubes so as to maintain, with a precise and uniform clearance, cylinders 13, 13<SP>1</SP> on the tubes formed by superposed discs of low hysteresis loss sheet iron. Fig. 5 shows a single tube 4 maintained in operative position by magnet 15 having modified pole shoes 57, 57<SP>1</SP>, and shoe arms 57a, 57a<SP>1</SP>.
