949,775. Spinning and twisting machines. G. SCHAFER, O. SCHAFER, G. SCHAFER jun., and O.SCHAFER jun., [trading as KUGELFISCHER GEORG SCHAFER & CO.] Feb.19, 1960 [Feb. 25,1959], No. 5907/60. Heading D1D. Driving mechanism, for false-twisting frames used to curl or twist-crimp synthetic filaments in a continuous operation, comprises one or more twisting tubes 3, 4; supported for rotation in the nip or nips, between two or more pairs of rotatable drive discs 1 and 2 disposed with their axes parallel to each other and to that of the tube(s). At least one of the pairs of drive discs is driven (as by a belt 13) to rotate each tube which is held in position in a radial direction in the nip between the discs by the attractive force of a magnet, 7 or 8, e.g. an electromagnet. Both poles 9 and 10 of the magnet are in proximity to the tube and act on two spaced points therein e.g. collars 5 and 6 peripheral portions of which are of magnetic material. The drive discs (and/or the tubes) may be of non-magnetic material and the peripheral edges of corresponding discs may overlap, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). A series of driving mechanisms may constitute a multiple falsetwisting assembly, Fig. 5 (not shown). Specification 949,776 is referred to.
