Abstract

862,319. Twist-tubes &c. in spinning and twisting machines &c. HEBERLEIN & CO. A. G. Oct. 6, 1959 [Nov. 11, 1958], No. 33884/59. Class 120(2) False-twisting apparatus comprises a twist-tube magnetically maintained in contact with supporting rollers axially parallel thereto, one of the rollers being driven to rotate the tube. As shown in Fig. 2, a twist tube 4 is maintained, by an adjustable, permanent bar-magnet co-operating with a jacket 12 of high permeability, lowhysteresis loss, magnetic material, in contact with overlapping pairs of discs 3, 3<SP>1</SP> (driven by a motor 5) and 6, 6 1 (driven by rotation of tube 4). At least the edges of the discs are made of synthetic resin, e.g. a polyamide or phenolformaldehyde, In a modification, Fig. 4, the jacket 12 consists of a pack of sheet iron discs between discs 21, 21<SP>1</SP> of non-magnetic material which co-operate with the inside faces of discs 3, 3<SP>1</SP> to limit axial displacement of tube 4. The edge 28 of the magnet 13 may comprise teeth co-operating with a jacket 12 formed by alternating discs of sheet iron and non-magnetic material, Fig. 5 (not shown). In a multiple assembly (not shown), all the discs, as at 3 3 1 are driven by contact with a common belt: each falsetwisting apparatus may comprise a pivoting device enabling a shaft connected to hub 1 to be disengaged from the belt.
