Abstract
1405698 Ring spinning assembly; yarn guide NITTO SHOJI Ltd and I MISAKI 30 Aug 1973 [30 Aug 1972] 40907/73 Heading DID A ring spinning assembly comprises a yarn guide 18 and a spindle 2, the guide 18 being supported from a bracket 5 by a ball bearing 15, the bearing 15 carrying a ring comprising a plurality of permanent magnets 16 arranged circumferentially, the downwardly facing surfaces being of alternate north and south polarity and lying in a first substantially horizontal plane, and the spindle 2 driving a similar ring in which the upwardly facing surfaces of the magnets 9 are also alternately of north and south polarity and lie in a second substantially horizontal plane below the first, the wings forming a magnetic coupling which drives the guide at the same rate as the spindle. The magnets 9 are preferably mounted in a cap I which may be rigidly mounted on the spindle or a bobbin. The guide 18 is carried by a casing assembly including the ball bearing 15, the space between an outer casing 13 and an inner guide 14 being filled with a plastics resin which secures the magnets 16 in the casing 13. To avoid manual resetting of the alignment of the poles of the magnets on restarting the spindle, it is preferred that at least one magnetic element is disposed adjacent the guide assembly outside the magnets 16. A similar magnetic element may be disposed about the magnets 9. The material of the casings enclosing the rings of magnets 9 and 16 is preferalbly non-magnetic e.g. stainless steel. The guide 18 is preferably trumpet-shaped and of plastics material, the rotation of the guide imposing a false-twist in the yarn which renders the yarn less liable to breakages between the guide and the front rollers of a drafting mechanism upstream of the ring and traveller device.
