Abstract

1297308 Open end device; supporting and driving spindle ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 16 March 1970 [20 March 1969] 12463/70 Heading DID In an open end spinning device wherein the shank 16 of the chamber 15 is rotated by driving elements e.g. elements 5, 6 on the inner surface of a hollow combing out roller 3, the shank 16 is held in position by magnetic means e.g. magnets 18, 19 with pole pieces 20, 21, 22 positioned outside the roller. As shown the shank 16 may have a flange 17 loosely engageable in a member 13 to maintain the axial position of the shank. Sets of discs may be provided to locate the shank when it is not being driven. In Figs. 5, 6 a magnet 43 is located outside roller 3 and locates a frame 36 carrying a magnet 37 within the roller. Frame 36 carries discs 34, 35 which are driven by contact with the inside of roller 3. Shank 16 is driven by the discs 34, 35 against which it is urged by discs 41 carried by a frame 40 which also carries magnets 42 which cooperate with magnet 37 to provide the urging force. In Figs. 7, 8 not shown shank (16) lies outside the combing out roller (3) and is driven by driving discs (50, 51) mounted on the shaft of the combing out roller. A magnet (57) encircles the shaft of the combing out roller and has pole plates (58, 59) which are provided with shaped pole pieces (63, 64) adjacent the shank (16), a magnet (65) also lying between plates 58, 59 outside the shank (16) of the spinning chamber. The shank (16) is axially supported on a footstep bearing which is associated with a further magnet. More than one magnet may be provided about the combing out roller shaft. In Fig. 14 shank 16 is driven by discs 50, 51 on combing out roller shaft 2 and is encircled by a pair of semi-circular magnets which have pole plates 91, 92 provided between the adjoining faces.
