Abstract

1,138,226. False-twist tubes. HEBERLEIN & CO. A.G. 6 Dec., 1966 [7 Dec., 1965], No. 54636/66. Heading D1D. A false-twist tube 9 is pressed against supporting rollers 6, 16 by a magnet 7 having poles 19, 19', the faces of which are opposite one another and inclined to one another so as to form a wedge-like gap so that tubes of different sizes may be supported by the rollers with approximately the same air gap between the tube and the faces of the poles. Each roller comprises a pair of spaced rubber discs with the poles being positioned between the discs. At least -one of the rollers is driven - as by a belt 12, with the apparatus being mounted on a platform 1 which is pivotally mounted to move roller 6 into and out of engagement with belt 12. The magnet, which may be an electro-, or a permanent magnet, is horseshoe shaped with the poles extending at right angles to the general plane of the magnet. The false-twist tubes have a widened central portion formed by a stack of superimposed discs of low-hysteresis loss sheet iron, and a twist pin at the top end of sapphire.
