Abstract

914,756. Hydraulic jet propulsion apparatus. DOWTY MARINE Ltd. March 16, 1961 [March 18, 1960], No. 9725/60. Class 114. An hydraulic jet propulsion apparatus is provided with a reversing deflector 21 which, in its operational position, closes the jet orifice 27 to deflect the jet forwardly of the boat. The deflector moves to and from its operational position along guides 25 and to remove any foreign matter which may collect in the clearances between the deflector and guides, holes 31 are provided in the deflector to allow some of the water being pumped through the nozzle 14 to pass to these clearances. The water may pass directly to the clearances from the propulsion pump through pipes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 877,850.
