Abstract

1345627 Water-jet propulsion T McINTYRE 16 Oct 1972 [22 Dec 1971] 59608/71 Heading B7V [Also in Division F1] A water-jet propulsion system for a ship comprises a water-filled pipe-line C located below the water line and connected upstream to inlets 415 and 416, and downstream to outlets 417 with rudders or deflectors, Fig. 14 (not shown), water being injected into the pipe-line C through nozzles 26 by a piston LIM driven by a gas generating unit GGU (see Division F1). A plurality of pumps may be connected to respective nozzles in a common pipe-line C, and operated in sequence, Fig. 15 (not shown).
