Abstract

1382126 Propelling ships J SAMUEL WHITE & CO Ltd 25 May 1973 [5 June 1972] 26080/72 Heading B7V A thruster unit is fitted in the bottom 15 of a barge and comprises a pump 21 which draws water into a housing 13 and passes it through a passage 19 into a housing 17 for ejection through a deflector blade assembly 32. The assembly can be rotated by means of a shaft 31 to vary the direction of water discharge. The pump and deflector assemblies, together with guide plates 26 and 27, are removable through the tops of their housings, i.e. from inside the barge, for maintenance purposes.
