Abstract

910,704. Knitting-machines. SINGERFIDELITY Inc. April 22, 1960, No. 757/62. Divided out of 910,703. Class 74 (2). The dial 27 of a cylinder-and-dial machine has needles 4 operated by swinging jacks 7 and also is adapted to be shogged to vary the needle spacing in respect of the cylinder and dial needles as described in Specification 910,703. In addition the dial drive shaft is adapted to be withdrawn as well as the jack cam ring 11 to enable the dial to be removed laterally from the machine. For this purpose the dial is secured to the dial shaft 17 through the housing 9 mounting the jacks 7 by being attached to a stub shaft 14 secured by screws 15 in the housing 9. The housing is secured by screws 16 to the shaft 17. When it is desired to remove the dial the securing bolt 26 is removed to enable the cam ring 11 to be disengaged from the jacks 7 to enable sufficient jacks to be removed whereby the screws 16 can be released. Screws 96 securing the upper spider 66 guiding the pocket take down shaft 67 and thereby supporting shaft 17 are then released and the removal of the screw 78 coupling the control linkage 79, 81 to the sleeve cone 72 for shogging the dial is effected whereby the shaft 17 and its driving gear 32 can be removed bodily upwards to free the dial and housing 9 to permit them to be withdrawn laterally from the machine.
