Abstract
636,613. Knitting-machines. BOOTON, Ltd., W. E., and BOOTON, W. E. June 21, 1947, No. 16438. [Class 74 (ii)] The dial of a rotating dial and cylinder machine is driven through gearing by the cylinder, the drive including a clutch which is disconnected when the dial is swung upwards away from the cylinder in known manner. The cylinder 1 may carry a gear 8 secured to the sinker ring 2, the gear 8 driving a gear 9 the upper end of which receives the dog 13 of the clutch. The dog 13 is secured to a shaft 11 which turns the dial through gears 15, 16, 18, 19, 21. Tappets 23 on a bracket secured to the shaft 11 act on a semicircular extension of the gear 15 to permit circumferential adjustment between the dial and cylinder. The dial may be raised by nuts 26. The length of the dog 13 is such that if it is not in mesh, the dial is clear of the cylinder. The sinker ring 2 may be secured by dogging to the cylinder tricks.
