Abstract
1,047,123. Knitting-machines. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. Aug. 6, 1964 [Aug. 10, 1963], No. 32112/64. Heading D1C. A circular knitting machine of the rotary cylinder type has means for turning the stocking produced thereon inside out as it is knitted. As the welt of the stocking is formed air drawn down a central tube 5 and through apertures 15 draws the welt down between the tube 5 and the funnel shaped bore 4 of the needle cylinder. The central tube 5, which rotates with the needle cylinder, is then lowered by the mechanism 11-13 until the welt is gripped between the bore 4 and a flange 6 on the central tube. On lowering the tube the apertures 15 are closed by a bush 7 and the remainder of the stocking is drawn down the central tube 5. On completion of the stocking the central tube 5 is raised to release the welt and the stocking is drawn out of the machine. A sieve 16 prevents the stocking being drawn into the apertures 15. Several modifications are shown of the funnel-shaped bore 4.
