Abstract

907,395. Reservoir pens. PLATINUM INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. April 4, 1960 [Oct. 14, 1959], No. 11888/60. Class 146 (3). A fountain pen has a nib-holding portion 9 and a disposable ink cartridge fitted to the rear thereof, the cartridge comprising a hollow, substantially cylindrical body 1, a sleeve 2 of resilient material fitted to the front end of the body and having a bore concentric with the axis of the body and initially closed by a spherical plug 4, and a rear stopper 12 of resilient material fitted to the rear end of the body, the sleeve and stopper having each a deep annular groove formed therein which tightly receives the corresponding end wall of the body. The parts 2, 12 may be made of polyethylene or rubber. When the cartridge is to be mounted in the pen a nozzle 8 on the rear end of the nibholding portion 9 and which contains an annular ink-feed channel, is thrust into the bore of the member 2, displacing the ball 4 into the interior of the cartridge, and is retained frictionally therein.
