Abstract

903,578. Cycle frames. ATELIERS .DE LA MOTOBECANE. April 10, 1961 [June. 28, 1960], No. 12840/61. Classes 79(3), 136(1) and 136(3). A frame for a motorassisted cycle is of heterogeneous construction and comprises a front part of stamped metal plates forming a girder 3 and a rear part of formed tubes and sections 1-10-11; a fuel tank 16 and a luggage carrier 17 contributing to the rigidity of the rear assembly and forming a quadrilateral with the saddle tube 1 and rear fork . arms 11. The girder 3 is formed by welding two half-shells 4 on to either side of a medium plate 7. Peripheral lips 5 and 6 reinforce gussets whereby the girder is attached to a steering head 8 and a saddle-pillar tube 1. A socket 13 is formed at the rear of the girder 3 to accept the ends of a pair of U- shaped stays 10 joined by a plate (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) at their forward ends and extending backwards on either side of the rear wheel to the hub-plates 12. The engine is pivoted at 14 on a tube (Fig. 4, not shown) which transversely crosses the girder 3.
