Abstract

1,075,725. Cycle frames. ATELIERS DE LA MOTOBECANE. Aug. 4, 1965 [Aug. 5, 1964], No. 33408/65. Heading B7E. An autocycle frame, Figs. 4 and 5, comprises a forward extending girder 1 constructed of two pressed metal half shells (6), (7), Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), provided with flanges 9, 17 which are spot welded to a central reinforcing sheet 8. A saddle tube (2), Fig. 1, which is open rearwardly between the limits (F-F) to allow the entry of a welding electrode has a U-shape at its junction with the girder 1 :and provides a V-shaped face 11 and flat flanges 10 which are welded to the flanges 12 of the girder 1. Rear forks 3 of U-section and provided with flanges 14 are welded to the flanges 10 through the flanges 13 of the girder 1 and have separately welded ends 19 provided with hand gripe 25 and fixed at 16 to the girder, the point 16 being situated on the flange 17 of the girder 1 and also providing a pivotal mounting for the engine so that the belt tension may be regulated. The U-section rear stays (4), Fig. 1, are pivoted at (24) and provided with stud and slot connections with the forks 3. The flanges 10 serve as guides for the mudguards 5, 51 when the guard and a carrier (not shown) pivot with the stays about 24. As may be seen, several thicknesses of plate are provided where strength is required, and the frame may be made collapsible. The chain tension may be adjusted by loosening the wheel nuts and pulling on the stays 4.
