Abstract

1,070,805. Frames for two-wheeled cycle vehicles. MOULTON CONSULTANTS Ltd. Nov. 25, 1965 [Nov. 27, 1964], No. 48347/64. Heading B7E. A steel or aluminium F-frame for pedal bicycles and mopeds, wherein the junctions between the backbone 1 and the front tube 2, and the seat tube 3 and the backbone 1 are formed by fillet brazing or CO 2 welding of the metal edges of ears 5, 6 on the backbone 1 and on the seat tube 3 respectively, to the front tube 2 and the backbone 1 respectively. The backbone is a flat-sided oval in cross-section with its major axis vertical, and the lower end of the front tube is larger in diameter than the width of the backbone; a sleeve 12 is fixed in the front tube. A bracing member 10 abuts with metal edges 10a against the backbone, and it is fillet-brazed there and at 10b and 10c where it passes through the seat tube 3. A housing 4 for a pedal crank axle is located by a bracket 7 fillet-brazed by its edges 7a to the backbone 1, and the housing is fillet-brazed at 8 to the bracket 7 and at 9 to the lower ends of the ears 6. The ears 6, Fig. 5 (not shown), are formed so that only the edges of the ears abut the backbone 1, and may be fluted and thickened.
