Abstract
784,421. Motor-scooters. VICTORIAWERKE AKT.-GES. Jan. 21, 1955 [Feb. 25, 1954], No. 1954/55. Class 136(3) A motor-scooter frame assembly extends from the steering tube to a point beyond the rear wheel and comprises a front part and a rear part joined together at 3. The front fork tube 4 is moulded with the front part 1. The surface 6 for carrying the number plate and the tail light housing 5 are moulded with the components 2. Stiffened angle members 8 are arranged inside the casing in the region of the rear wheel and serve as anchorages for a rear wheel shock absorber. The components of the frame assembly may be of pressed sheet metal or they can be produced from light metal by a pressure casting process. Attachment means for the axle of the rear wheel, the engine and the tank are integrally cast with the components 2. Alternatively the frame assembly may be made from synthetic resin. A channel 7 is moulded in the components 1, 2 in the plane of symmetry of the vehicle. The channel takes the wiring and the control cables. Metal parts such as 9 (Fig. 8) for stiffening the components 1, 2 and attaching parts of the vehicle to the components are embedded in the synthetic resin material. If the frame assembly is produced from sheet metal pressings the channels 7 and the angle members 8 will be fitted subsequently. In an alternative construction the front and rear parts of the frame assembly are connected by a malleable casting 12 (Fig. 11). The front part of the frame assembly comprises a tube 13 connecting the member 12 and the steering head tube 14. Lugs 15, 16 serve for the attachment of the engine.
