Abstract

807,479. Mudguards. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE A.G. Sept. 14, 1956 [Sept. 15, 1955], No. 28190/56. Class 136(1) A mudguard device for the front wheels of motor vehicles of the kind in which the lower side of the vehicle body behind the wheel housing is disposed inside the outer plane of the wheel, comprises a rubber mudguard flap 5 arranged behind the wheel and which is rectangular at its lower portion and which has in the direction towards the outer side of the vehicle, following the indrawn configuration of the lower part of the body, an upward extension which extends approximately as far as the outermost lateral limit of the wheel housing. The flap 5 has a flange 10 wich is clamped by bolts 7 between a bead-like bulge 4 of the wheel recess 3 and a fixing edge 8 of a triangular decorative plate 6. A portion of the mudguard flap 5 which extends towards the middle of the vehicle beyond the lower edge 9 of the vehicle body is held by a sheet metal angle member 11 which is riveted to the flap 5 at the holes 12.
