Abstract

851,332. Motor vehicles. PORSCHE, F. Feb. 11, 1959 [March 1, 1958], No. 4744/59 Class 79(3). In a vehicle in which a drive unit 5 is located below a luggage space 11 adjacent a wheel housing 9 having a detachable side wall 8, part of the junction between the side wall and housing. is broadened, 16, to form an air inlet aperture for the engine to which it is connected by a passage which may be formed by a member 18 secured to the side wall attaching means 14 and to the engine at 20. The engine has a cooling fan 6. The junction between the side wall 18 and wheel housing 9 extends to the door post and is covered by a decorative strip. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5, the side wall 18<SP>1</SP> extends only over the vicinity of the wheel and itself forms the air passage being connected to the engine at 20<SP>1</SP>. The luggage compartment floor 11<SP>1</SP> is extended to complete the passage and is connected to the side 24 of the wheel housing 9<SP>1</SP>.
