Abstract

792,049. Cycle frames. PHILLIPS & CO., Ltd., J. A. Aug. 22, 1956 [Aug. 23, 1955], No 24201/55. Addition to 784,223. Classes 136(1) and 136(3) In a modification of the parent Specification the bicycle frame comprises a substantially triangular framework 1, 2, 4, 18 and a rear part consisting of twin tubes 6 extending in a unitary bow from the upper part of the seat pillar tube 4 to the bottom bracket 3, rear wheel mounting plates 12 being secured to the tubes 6 at their curved parts 8. Bridging tubes 10, 11 extend between and are secured to the twin tubes 6 to brace the frame and provide attachment parts for the mudguard and brakes. A carrier is formed by further tubes 16 bent into a V shape and secured at one end to the tubes 6 at their junctions with the mounting plates 12 or to the mounting plates themselves. The other ends of the tubes 16 are connected to the tubes 6 near the bridging tube 10. Bars 17 form luggage supporting members. To strengthen the junctions of the twin tubes 6 with the bottom bracket 3, a plate 15 is brazed or welded to the tubes and to the bottom bracket.
