Abstract
756,295. Cycle frames. SOC. D'APPAREILS DE CONTROLE ET D'EQUIPEMENT DES MOTEURS S.A.C.E.M. Oct. 28, 1954 [Nov. 14,1953; Sept. 13, 1954], No. 31184/54. Classes 136 (1) and 136 (3). In a bicycle frame comprising a down tube 1 which slopes downwardly and curves towards the horizontal so as to terminate at its rear end above the bottom bracket, and a rear triangular unit consisting of horizontal fork arms 4, oblique rods 5 and a seat pillar element 6, the seat pillar element is constituted by a sheet-metal piece of " U " section having its convexity turned towards the front, this piece acting as a mudguard for the rear wheel of the bicycle, the horizontal fork arms 4 comprising each, in front of the convexity of the seat pillar element 6, an extension which is fixed to the rear portion of the tube 1, this rear portion being engaged between the extensions. As shown in Fig. 1, the flanges 7 of the seat pillar element extend downwardly to act as supports for the bottom bracket shell 3. The frontward extensions of the arms 4 are welded through brackets 10 to the side plates 7. Transverse bars 11 are welded to the tube 1 and to the frontward extensions. As shown in Figs. 6 and 7 the seat stays 5 are of U-section and the fork arms 4 of an inverted L-section. The tube 1 is fixed to the extensions of the arms 4 by transverse bolts 12, 13, spacer sleeves 14, 15 and 16 being interposed. A gusset 70 is connected to the tubular element 1 and to the fork arms 4 by the bolt 13. A stand 9 is pivoted at 8 to the seat pillar element.
