In a bicycle frame the bottom tube 13 is extended downwardly and rearwardly at 14 beyond the axis of the bottom bracket 15, and the chain stays 17 extend upwardly and rearwardly from the lower end of the bottom tube to their connections 18 with the rear wheel fork tubes 12. The extension 14 is of a length greater than the radius of the chain wheel 20. Bracing stays 22 are provided.
