Abstract

571,068. Tricycles. NORMAN, F. G., and NORMAN, C. T. Oct. 19, 1943, No. 17164. [Classes 136 (i) and 136 (iii)] A rear cross-member 9 of the tricycle frame carrying supports or bearing housings 10 for the transverse axle 11 of the two rear wheels 12 is secured in a readilv detachable manner to the longitudinal frame section 2 so that the rear cross-member can be removed for packing. The frame comprises upper and lower longitudinal members 1, 2 welded together at the rear, the lower member 2 being upwardly bent to take the saddle post 4. A plate 5 is welded to the upwardly-bent portion and a like plate 8 is welded centrally to the rear cross-member 9 the plates being detachably secured together by bolts 6. The bearing housings 10 are welded to the outer ends of the member 9 which are also formed with a pair of lugs 14 carrying inverted T-shaped brackets 16 which support the mudguards 13 so that the mudguards are readily detachable.
