893,782. Supporting lamps. BAUER G.m.b.H., EUGEN. Feb. 24, 1960 [Feb. 25, 1959], No. 6440/60. Addition to 827,738. Class 75(4) [Also in Group XXXVI] A lampholder for supporting a rod-shaped discharge lamp 47 in an optical projector comprises two support members 13, 30<SP>1</SP> having clamping jaws for engaging pins 52, 53 on the ends of the lamp and being restrained as in the parent Specification from translation in any direction other than along the lamp axis and also from angular displacement about the lamp axis. Each pair of clamping jaws comprises a fixed jaw 27, Fig. 2, a movable jaw 30 and a clamping screw 32 screwed into the fixed jaw 27 and passing with clearance through a bore in the movable jaw. A compression spring 36 surrounding the clamping screw urges the jaws together. A pin 39 inserted in the movable jaw 30 has a domed end resting on the fixed jaw 27. The lower support member 13 is secured to a leaf spring 10 secured to a bridge 6 secured to insulators 2, 3. The upper support member 30<SP>1</SP> has a vertical slot 26 engaged with a horizontal pin 25 secured to lugs on a bridge 22 secured to insulators 4, 5. The upper support member 30<SP>1</SP> is pulled downwardly by tension spring 44 and when the lamp is in position the lower support member 13 abuts a pin 7 on the bridge 6. The lamp pins have steps 50, 51 which abut the facing surfaces of the two pairs of clamping jaws.
