891,381. Pistons. MAHLE, H., and MAHLE, E., [trading as MAHLE KOMM.-GES.]. Oct. 28, 1960 [Oct. 30, 1959], No. 37107/60. Class 122 (1). [Also in Group XXV] The main body 1 and head 2 of a multi-part piston are connected by bolts 3 which pass through thrust bushes 5 secured in the body 1 and are supported with their heads against the end faces of the bushes by nuts 4 screwed on the ends of the bolts and bearing against shoulders in recesses in the piston head 2, the bolt ends being provided with recesses 32 for the introduction of a holding tool. The abutting surfaces of the bolt heads 31 and of the nut collars 41 are spherical. The bushes are made of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion equal to or lower than that of the bolts. Cover caps 6 with interposed packings 7 fill the spaces above the nuts 4. In a modification, the nuts completely fill the recesses and are provided with central bores for insertion of the holding tool.
