In a voltage regulator of the series valve type, the regulating valve 5 is connected via a phasereversing amplifying valve 6 to a control valve 7, and a stabilizer valve 15 maintains constant the voltage between the cathode of the control valve and a base point 20 of a voltage divider 8-12 connected across the output terminals 3, 4. The valves 5-7 may be multigrid valves and the valves 6, 7 may comprise a double triode. One or more stabilizer valves may replace the resistor 8, and the anode resistor 16 of the control valve 7 may then be connected to the positive output terminal. The range of the regulator may be adjusted by variation of the resistor 12. The regulator is for stabilizing D.C. voltages above 500 volts.
