Abstract

852,128. Automatic voltage and current control systems. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. June 20, 1958 [June 21, 1957], No. 19808/58. Class 38 (4). An output from a rectifier supply 11 is fed to parallel-connected transistors 13, 14, each having a resistor 15 or 16 in series. The voltage difference between the negative terminals of the resistors affects an amplifier, comprising transistors 40, 41, controlling the base voltage of transistor 14, so as to maintain constant the relationship between the currents through the parallel-connected transistors. The base voltage on transistor 13 is controlled by an amplifier, comprising transistors 17-19, so as to maintain constant the voltage across a load 10. The load voltage is varied by a potentiometer 24. Reference voltages for the amplifiers are derived across Zener diodes 46, 21, 26, and a positive bias from a supply 34.
