814,330. Automatic voltage control systems. KIENZLE APPARATE G.m.b.H. Sept. 24, 1956 [Nov. 7, 1955], No. 29112/56. Class.38 (4). A D.C. voltage regulator has the variable input, e.g. from a rectifier 3, applied to the collector of a transistor 7, the load 9 connected to the emitter and a biasing battery 5 serving as a reference voltage source connected to the base. Resistor 6 provides, a permanent charging path for the battery 5, to compensate for the base current it supplies. In this way the reference voltage is held constant and, due to the transistor stabilizing action, the output voltage across load 9 is similarly fixed. The constant collector current characteristic of the transistor provides stabilization against variation in the supply voltage and the low output impedance of the circuit maintains constant voltage with a varying load.
