Abstract

1,201,951. Automatic voltage control. AMPEX ELECTRONICS Ltd. Oct.9, 1968 [Oct.10, 1967], No.46199/67. Heading G3R. A voltage regulator of the type including a series transistor Q1 controlled by an error amplifier transistor Q2 is provided with a further transistor Q3 connected into the circuit together with resistors R1, R3, as illustrated; the Specification shows that this arrangement provides a low impedance in the input circuit of the regulator to reduce the effect of variations in the unregulated input voltage and provides a high impedance load for the error amplifier, thus improving the operation of the regulator. The series regulating element may be formed by a pair of transistors, and the regulator may include a simple constant current circuit to assist the action of the further transistor, Fig.3 (not shown).
